World of Warcraft players are asking for all references to the alleged abuser in the Activision Blizzard lawsuit to be taken off the game.
California filed a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard Wednesday after a two-year probe into “fratboy workplace culture.” It’s possible that the suit outlines numerous instances of specific Activision Blizzard employees allegedly abusingthe company’s female employees, making them feel harassed, and even threatening to female employees over a long period of time.
Alex Afrasiabi is one of the defendants in the lawsuit. He was a former World of Warcraft creative chief who left Activision Blizzard quietly in June 2020. Afrasiabi’s story is detailed in court papers. It explains the way he “got drunk” and began to hit on female employees.
After the alleged rape that Bill Cosby was accused ofthe hotel room he was staying in at BlizzCon became the Cosby Suite.
Blizzard executives knew about Afrasiabi’s behavior, including Blizzard president J. Allen Brack, but took no effective remedial measures.”
Kotaku said that Afrasiabi left Blizzard with very little enthusiasm in 2020. Compare that to someone like Jeff Kaplan, who got a momentous sendoff at the time of his departure in the spring of this year, and you’ll have the impression that something might be amiss.
The WoW players are also making two and two and have been asking for the removal of Afrasiabi from World of Warcraft. As a former creative director Afrasiabi has plenty of in-game references, including two NPCsand several items like Fras Siabi’s Cigar Cutter and Siabi’s Premium Tobacco.
Alongside Reddit and Blizzard posts requesting Afrasiabi to scour WoWplayers also started to place “go away” warning signs on the ground before Field Marshal Afrasiabi in Stormwind.
WoW players also protested in Oribos. Players from both factions have come together to stand on the front of the Oribos Inn.
Afrasiabi and Activision Blizzard were not charged with any of these allegations. The companyalso rejects all the allegations.
